Everybody loves a quiz

Remember when you were a kid in school…. you’d walk into your classroom and see a new person sitting at the teacher’s desk. By the time you were in high school, you knew that a substitute’s presence at the teacher’s desk meant a pop-quiz was just moments away.

While quizzes in K-12 were bad things, now that you’re in the real world, it’s time to ditch quiz anxiety because online, interactive quizzes are DA BOMB when it comes to web sites and marketing.

Remember, marketing is merely the act of getting your message in front of your target customer. PERIOD.

Online quizzes are a GREAT way to attract some of that ideal traffic to your website or blog.

Here’s a perfect example of a quiz in action over at Fast Company. In THERE ARE NO WRONG ANSWERS (EXCEPT YOURS) Tom Stern ran across a quiz which he mentions in his article. Quintessential Careers offers a work/life balance quiz which Tom found worthy of mentioning.

BINGO! Quintessential Careers has just hit the marketing jackpot. They’re getting free PR by just providing a simple quiz.

Magazine editors have known this since the dawn of time: readers love quizzes. Whether it’s a “rate your mate” or “what color is your soul”, there’s nothing like inviting readers to take a quiz to raise circulation.

I encourage my clients to add quizzes to their web sites. I even feature one on my website.

Not only do visitors love taking quizzes…. it can also lead to new visitor traffic thanks to an article mention like the one above.
