Sadly many business owners don't have the time to do all of the needed steps, or don't have all the pieces of the puzzle: blog, seo, email campaign, social media etc.

I also think that because there are many companies that specialize in providing only a certain service, they tend to gloss over and outright over look how different components of online marketing work togather.

A web designer who just sells sites isn't really interested (or even knowledgable) about SEO. A company that provides SEO may not be all that hot on mobile sites or social media. As such business owners get bombarded with offers for this or that service, but no one ever explaisn to them how all this components work togather, or even why you'd want to have all of them.

We've had a lot of success with our promotional products blog. What we do is send out a monthly newsletter to our client list that includes links to the month's blog posts. It's interesting to watch which topics attract the most clicks.

A blog is such a great tool for small businesses. Not only is it a great way to promote products and services, but it is excellent for building customer relations and trust. As well as the SEO, networking, and bridge to social media benefits. I'm suprised more businesses don't take advantage of blogging!
