If you haven’t chosen a niche market for your product or services, then trying to market your business via Facebook is going to be an expensive and frustrating undertaking.
Let’s start with the basics – Facebook is the “go-to” online destination for millions of people. Chances are good that your customers are already there. Chances are even better that people who are prospective customers for the goods and services you provide are also there.
Facebook can be an economical, effective place to advertise your business.
Your mission – if you choose to accept it – is to try to reach those people via advertising on Facebook.
Step #1: Define your target audience
Once again, you have to define your target your niche audience before you can begin using Facebook to market your business. If you don’t have a tightly targeted niche market in mind, you’ll be displaying your ad to people who aren’t potential customers.
When you advertise on Facebook – you pay for the number of “impressions” your ad makes. That means, when your ad is displayed – it’s an “impression” and you pay.
What makes this wonderfully economical IF you’ve tightly defined your target market is that instead of airing your commercial on a television show where perhaps 30% of the audience is a prospective customer for your product or service, you’ll be paying to display your ad ONLY to the people you’ve defined as “hot prospects”.
If you’re having trouble defining your target audience – pick up a copy of my book Beyond the Niche: Essential Tools You Need to Create Marketing Messages that Deliver Results where I take you step by step through the process of identifying the ideal niche market for your business.
Step #2: Create Your Creative
Once you’ve identified your target market, the rest is easy – well- relatively easy by comparison. Create an eye catching small ad which “speaks” to your target audience.
Again – if you’ve tightly targeted your audience – your chances of success are increased exponentially. Remember, when people arrive at Facebook – it’s not like the Superbowl – when some people tune in just to see the ads. People are there to connect with their friends, family and even “frenemies”.
It’s your creative’s job to capture their eye – and then share a message which effectively joins the conversation already going on inside their head. (More about how to do that in my book.)
Step #3: Create Your Landing Page
When Facebook users click on an ad -they are taken to a destination – usually outside of Facebook. Make sure you’ve created a special page especially for people who clicked on that particular ad. You don’t want visitors to be confused one they arrive at your site. Bring them to a place which echos the message in your Facebook ad.
Step #4: Launch Your Campaign
Now it’s finally time to launch your campaign. Facebook makes it incredibly easy to advertise your business there and it can be incredibly cost effective IF you’ve tightly targeted your niche market in advance and kept that niche market in mind as you create your landing page and the ad itself.
When you follow this easy 4 step formula, Facebook can be an economical, effective place to advertise your business.

How do i creat my page?
This process is constantly changing. Search within Facebook for the most recent answers to this question.
The best thing about FB’s advertising is that it’s dirt cheap (well, the views are, clicks depend on your ctr) you can get 10k views for like $2, which is usually enough to see if your headline, image and text are going to work or not.
Compare this to adwords where you’d need to spend at least 20-50$ to determine how effective a cmpaign is.
PS: Wisdom – click on any page and look for a “create a page” link should be in the top right corner, just above the column where adds/friends activities are displayed.
Great insight and information. Thanks for sharing!!!
