Essential Secrets to Creating Successful Internet Marketing Strategies

in Advertising 2.0,Affordable Small Business Marketing Strategies,Internet Marketing Strategies

Before you get to work creating internet marketing strategies you must first recognize the difference between internet  marketing strategies and internet  marketing tactics.

There’s a huge difference between internet marketing strategies and internet marketing tactics.

A strategy is an overall plan – a road map with the beginning and end destinations clearly marked.  The routes between the two are carefully plotted and clearly marked.  Meanwhile, tactics are the vehicles you’ll use to travel those carefully planned routes.

  • Using Twitter is not an internet marketing strategy – it’s an internet marketing tactic.
  • Using PPC is not an internet marketing strategy – it’s an internet marketing tactic.
  • Blogging is not an internet marketing strategy – it’s an internet marketing tactic.

Drafting an Internet Marketing Strategy is like charting a course.  Internet Marketing TACTICS are what you’ll use to implement your internet marketing strageties.

An internet marketing strategy begins with identifying your target audience.  Once you’ve identified your target audience, next you need to determine their Goals, Desires and Problems.

The next step in creating a marketing strategy is to identify how your product/service helps to solve a problem, quench the customer’s desire or help the customer achieve a goal.

When you have those steps nailed down, then you can get down to crafting your marketing message.

The final step in developing internet marketing strategies is determining the right media to use to deliver your message to the people who want or need your products or services – your target audience.

Crafting Internet Marketing Strategies involves looking the bigger picture. Marketing in general is is the whole set of the activities involved in transferring goods or services from you to the consumer.

Advertising, on the other hand, is just one facet of marketing. It is the act of paying someone to deliver your message to the masses. If you retain nothing else, know that your advertising is just one small part of your marketing; it’s the part that issues the invitation to visit or call your business.

In many cases, internet advertising is simply an internet marketing tactic you’ll use to implement your internet marketing strategy.

Nice post. Like Jay Abraham says: most people are tactical, not strategic. Plus for Internet marketing it can be kind of tempting to just go with a “I’ll get my site to page one and watch the money roll in.”

Not to mention that most of the material out there, be it ebooks, videos, courses or w/e all talk about tactics: use ppc, use article marketing, use videos to get traffic etc. Very few, if any ebooks actually talk about having a strategy for how your business will work.
