Let’s be clear. Conversion rate means the percentage of people who saw the pop-up ad and took action.
So if you’ve tightly targeted your marketing message to your target audience, you MAY get 1 out of 10 visitors to take action.

The human brain FILTERS incoming information. Every day you see or hear thousands of ads. If you didn’t have a filter, your poor brain would do nothing other than process ad messages. Your brain knows you need time to sleep, eat and have sex. That’s why the filter kicks in so you’ll have time for what’s important in life. Advertising that isn’t RELEVANT gets screened.
Advertising MUST produce results. In order to produce results, you HAVE to break through the filter with your marketing message!
If you need an example of the filter in action, think of what happens when you decide it’s time for a new car. Once you’ve made that decision, your brain will start allowing all of the car dealer’s ads through. However, if you’re not in the market for a car, then your marvelous brain filters out the overwhelming number of car ads.

If you create messages that don’t “break through” the filters – then your advertising and marketing messages WILL fall victim to the filters. Your ads must grab attention.
